Constellations bronzes

Tabula Rasa, Sculpture 2003-2007

If we can see camels in mountains, we can see shapes in the sky and by connecting the dots that make up the stars, mankind has extended its legends to the heavens.

Once again my stars are ‘evocative’ rather than representational. Stars may be fiery balls of light, and for any sculptor who works in cast bronze the crucible is a fiery bowl of molten metal, as dynamic as the stars are brilliant.

My stars, as an extension of the imagination, have cooled into their respective shapes, with reference to the various legends that give them their names.

Like the Trail Markers, they too can be stations on a journey as guided by a configuration of stars and their descendants.
